Introduction


Our widget is a simple javascript plugin which can be embedded on any website. You can either copy the script code from the Control Panel and add it to your HTML file or embedd it in any platform. PLATFORMS

Squarespace

Requirements

Adding custom code onto a Squarespace website is a Premium feature available in Business and Commerce plans only. Trial periods also allow code injection but only for the time of the trial.

Below are the steps you need to follow in order to add the widget to a Squarespace website.

Steps:

  1. Login to Control Panel.
  2. Click on Data Access Gateway.
  3. Go to Customize Widget.
  4. Select either Widget or iFrame and click on the Copy button.
  5. Go to Squarespace and click the LOG IN button on the top right of page.
  6. Enter your Email Address and Password then click the Log In button.
  7. Under the Websites tab, click on the website you want to add the widget to.
  8. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on Settings > Advanced > Code Injection
  9. Paste your code into the textfield under the FOOTER section.
  10. Click the Save button that will appear on the top left corner of the page.

Test

Log out of Squarespace or open an incognito tab and go to your website. Check if the Dataships widget is now visible.

Wix

Requirements

Embedding Custom Code to Your Site is only available for sites with a connected domain for Wix websites.

Steps

  1. Login to Control Panel.
  2. Click on Data Access Gateway.
  3. Go to Customize Widget.
  4. Select either Widget or iFrame and click on the Copy button.
  5. Go to Wix and click the Sign In button on the top right of page.
  6. Enter your Email and Password then click the Log In button.
  7. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on Settings > Tracking & Analytics
  8. Click + New Tool and select Custom from the dropdown.
  9. Set up your custom code:
    1. Paste your code into the textfield
    2. Select the relevant domain.
      Note: This option will appear only if you have multiple domains.
    3. Enter a name for your custom code such as Dataships widget.
    4. Add Code to Pages: Select All pages and Load code once option from the dropdown.
    5. Place Code in: Select Body - end.
  10. Click on Apply.

Test

Go to the "Tracking & Analytics" and make sure the Dataships Widget is toggled on.

Log out of Wix or open an incognito tab and go to your website. Check if the Dataships widget is visible there.

Wordpress

Requirements

Installing plugins in Wordpress is a feature that is only available for Business plans.

To add the widget on all pages of your website, follow these steps:

  1. Login to Control Panel.
  2. Click on Data Access Gateway.
  3. Go to Customize Widget.
  4. Select either Widget or iFrame and click on the Copy button.
  5. Go to Wordpress and click the Log In link on the top right of page.
  6. Enter your Email Address or Username then click the Continue button.
  7. Enter your Password and click the Log In button.
  8. Click on My Site on the top left corner.
  9. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on Plugins > Tracking & Analytics
  10. Search for Header, Footer and Post Injections.
  11. Install and then Activate the plugin by Stefano Lissa

  12. Go to your wordpress site URL followed by "/wp-admin" e.g. dataships.io would be dataships.io/wp-admin
  13. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on "Settings" > "Header and Footer"

  14. Paste the code copied from Dataships documentations page into the textfield under "BEFORE THE CLOSING TAG (FOOTER)" for Desktop.
  15. Click on "Save"

To add the widget on specific page(s) of your website, follow these steps:

  1. Login to Control Panel.
  2. Click on Data Access Gateway.
  3. Go to Customize Widget.
  4. Select either Widget or iFrame and click on the Copy button.
  5. Go to Wordpress and click the Log In link on the top right of page. Or, go to your wordpress site's specific login page.
  6. Enter your Email Address or Username then click the Continue button.
  7. Enter your Password and click the Log In button.
  8. Click on the Wordpress logo on the top left corner.
  9. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on Plugins > Add New.
  10. Search for Shortcoder
  11. Install and then Activate the plugin by Aakash Chakravarthy

  12. Go to your wordpress site URL followed by "/wp-admin" e.g. dataships.io would be dataships.io/wp-admin
  13. From the Sidebar menu on the left, click on Shortcoder.

  14. Click on Create shortcode button.
  15. Input Dataships_Widget in the Shortcode name field.
  16. Paste the code copied from Control Panel into the textfield.

  18. Copy the shortcode by clicking on the Copy button.
  19. Click on Publish button to create new shortcode.
  20. Go to the wordpress page (e.g. privacy page) where you would like the Dataships Widget to appear. It's usually under the Pages secttion on the Sidebar menu on the left.
  21. Paste the shortcode copied in from step 17.
  22. Click on Update under the Publish section.

Test

Log out of Wordpress or open an incognito tab on your browser and go to your website. Check if the Dataships widget is visible there.
